Ningxia strengthens efforts to protect the rights and crack down on counterfeit geographical indication products such as goji berries

On August 16th, the reporter learned from the Market Supervision and Administration Department of the Autonomous Region that Ningxia has increased its efforts in the special rectification of the rights protection and anti-counterfeiting of geographical indication products, continuously strengthened the protection of geographical indications, effectively rectified the illegal abuse of geographical indication trademarks, further standardized market operation order, and safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

Recently, the Market Supervision Department of the Autonomous Region made specific arrangements and deployments for the rights protection and anti-counterfeiting actions of Zhongning Goji berries and Zhongwei Selenium Sand Melon, focusing on three key areas: "major wholesale markets within the region," "major sales cities outside the region," and "major online sales platforms," to comprehensively carry out special actions for rights protection and anti-counterfeiting. As of now, a total of 114 goji berry business owners in Zhongwei City have been inspected, and 12 distributors of "Zhongning goji berry" packaging boxes have been found to have violated regulations. 65700 illegal goji berry outer packaging and identification labels have been seized, and 7 cases of suspected infringement of the exclusive right to use the Zhongning goji berry trademark have been filed for investigation and processing. When inspecting major supermarkets and wholesale markets, it was found that some merchants in the wholesale market used expired or self-produced "Zhongwei Selenium Sand Melon" logos. Law enforcement officers ordered them to be removed from the shelves in accordance with the law, and investigated two cases of unauthorized printing of Xiangshan Selenium Sand Melon logos. 79500 unqualified logos were removed, and 170000 suspected infringing logos were seized.

At present, Ningxia has comprehensively established a list of geographical indication protection products, geographical indication trademarks (collective, certification trademarks), and agricultural product geographical indication protection, regulating the use and supervision of geographical indication trademarks and protection products. We continued to carry out special actions to protect geographical indications, including "Zhongning Lycium Barbarum", "Dawukou Liangpi", "Yanchi Tanyang" and other geographical indication trademarks. As of now, Ningxia has 11 geographical indication protection products, 25 geographical indication trademarks, and 60 geographical indications for agricultural products.
